Hi, Sophie.
This is a really beautiful piece written by a very beautiful person, and I can't thank you enough for sharing it with us! Yes, it's a little sad that this happened to you, but as you said, it has made you who are today.
I'm not as religious as I once was, but I do believe to a point. And I believe that some higher power puts us through ordeals like this to make us stronger and to teach us that there are people in this world who have it a lot rougher than we do, and why we should just be happy to have what we have.
I'm a pretty tough-skinned old gargoyle, Sophie, but just between you and me, this did a bring a tear to my eye. But it was tear of joy, because you are one strong and beautiful person!
'I didn't say that, though, because if I hadn't gone through what I went through, all of it, every bit of it, I wouldn't be the person I am today. I wouldn't know the things I know, and I wouldn't have the gifts I have because of those life experiences.'
