An interesting 24-syllable poem. It is indeed the correct syllable count.

I like the dropnote information defining the prompt word. I did not need it in this case but it would have served me well in other rounds of this contest. Now I want to look back to see if you have consistently added this feature.

Speaking of features, the very first thing I noticed was a bit of alliteration with all the words starting with f's: future, fingerprints, further, fixation.

The repeating of certain sounds adds a special dimension to poems, eh?

Your title and words gave.me food for thought. What is research but the saving of and preserving information for future generations?

Good job incorporating the prompt word into this idea.
