Aloha, Norman!
As a 2 time father first to two beautiful daughters, and now a Grandanna to four Grandannachildren, I can totally relate to this, although since I never thought of it in this way, I'm a little sad to read it.
Yes, we certainly were their 'Supermen', weren't we?
I like how you wrote this poetic style, and the simplicity of it says a lot more than just those few words do.
They grow up so fast, and then...'The want to be set free'. *Sad* We knew it was going to happen one day, but so darn soon?
The nice part about it is that we can now be 'Supermen' to our grandchildren, at least to a degree. And in that we can relive our memories!
That ending was a nice touch, although also a little sad. It's so true that one day they will be our 'Supermen'.
Oh well. Cae sera sera, eh?
