Chelsea, Maine [E] Could we get gas next time in Emily, New Hampshire, or Daddy, New York? |
G'day, Lou! I wasn't quite sure what this was about at first, but it didn't take long to figure it out. And I thought it was pretty darn good! I like how concise you wrote it, or perhaps I should say how 'simple' you wrote it. The short dialogue between you and your daughter as you travel up and down the east coast (or thereabouts, anyway-I've never east of Texas) was nice, and the reader can see the innocence and curiosity in Emily's talking. But the best part about this was how she made you realize what you take for granted since you run this particular journey so often. You've seen it all many times, but you've never actually looked at it, for lack of a better word. I'm sure you know what I mean; after all, you're the one who wrote this! That last paragraph says it all right there in a nutshell. Kudos on that, my friend! I'm really surprised that this piece wasn't ever accepted for publication! Have you tried Trucking publications? If I were you, I'd keep submitting to more places, because I'm sure somebody would pick this up! Kee ponw ritin gon, my friend! Thanks for sharing this (and the little lessons about towns being named after names!), and have a wonderful and prosperous New Year!
