Hi Whitney! Nixie here,
dropping off a review from
A beautiful Simply Positive Reviewing Signature

I wish none of what you wrote was true. People who give, people who only see the good in others are generally taken advantage of. And if the person who gives accepts the return treatment, then they are telling the person they accept the response. So, how does the recipient learn?

Some people are people-pleasers, and that makes it difficult for them not to help. Again, in this instance, they're being taken advantage of. Giving freely and accepting the bad. A good example of this topic happened today.

My daughter's boss told her she had to come in though she was sick. She agreed only to please him. His only reason for making her come in was because he didn't want to work until 9 P.M. At first she said yes, and tried. But she had to call back and say it wasn't possible.

So, all of this was sparked by your poem, and a strong reader reaction is something to be proud of.

One thought ~ That word [used] bothers me. I have a tendency to lean on it, that's why I noticed. Totally your choice, I'll offer one suggestion.

"Once full of love"

Changing that line rids you of [used] and the passive verb [be]. Just saying.

I liked the title and the brief description stated what you, or your character believed in. True giving means giving without expectation of receiving. So there's sort of two messages here. Don't be a person who gets stepped on. But don't give freely of yourself. We all have to remember to take care of ourselves first.

Nicely done!
