Please include the following prompt somewhere in your story of 1000 words or less. Ellen saw a blackbird singing to her even when she closed her eyes at night.  My reviews are intended to be helpful and encouraging, not hurtful in any way.  Use what you feel works for you, and leave the rest.  Title Blackbird Sings in the Dead of Night  No suggestions! I believe titles are important, drawing readers into reading a story or poem. Your title does exactly this. Good job! First Impression Very impressive! Nicely written. I felt intrigued the entire time. In fact, I would love to read more! You hooked me, for sure.  This would make an excellent prologue! What I Liked  Your dialogue is excellent! Visuals are clearly portrayed and easy to follow. Great flow of words; reads smoothly throughout You followed the rules to a T! The ending is awesome. Like I mentioned earlier, this would make a great prologue! If you write more, let me know because I will definitely read it! Suggestions Absolutely none! Final Thoughts This is a fine piece of polished writing. But I want more!  The ending has me wide-eyed and wondering about all the possibilities from then on. Oh my goodness, my mind is reeling!
