this poem is full of romance, cliche double entendre, and metaphors for less than chaste acts, at least that is how I read it. why are the two vessels at odds like this? Is it wartime are they pirate ships. The vessel is very feminine but then most sailing vessels are shes so this is almost like two women engaging one another.
