I enjoyed reading the thoughts of a cake in your poem.
It seemed to have personality, emotions, and self-preservation baked into it.
The fear was well demonstrated and I was able to follow the story well as it became clear that the cake was going to become a tasty party treat.

My guess based on your poem is that the birthday party was a very enjoyable success except for the demise of the cake.
