An escapist blindly tries to live an unrealistic life without God's help. Is it possible? Not at all. The narrator does that crime. Now everything is taken away from the teller except a few breaths. Why does the narrator get that mercy? Not for giving rewards but for taking the well-deserved punishment which the teller earned due to self-deeds. Now the person realizes self-faults. But it is too late to admit that fact. Most probably, humans will not survive. But, the story teaches us an important lesson, do not be an escapist. Try to depend on God. Otherwise, life will be dark.
It is truly an excellent poem. The imagery is awesome.
Keep writing.
