It is an ideal beginning. It is going to be an Epic fantasy. Will it fulfil the characteristics of an Epic Fantasy? Only time will tell the truth. I can see some signs that make me optimistic.
First and foremost, the writer raises some interesting questions in the preface part. The answers can not be predicted which makes us curious about the next happenings.
It is a great art to generate involvement with the story. My experiences indicate towards an absorbing fantasy novel.
I expect that the author can fulfil our desires.
