Hello Roselia

I agree that The New Yorker is written with the intention to either make readers better, or to confuse. A lot of the articles in that publication use the most obtuse words that may be the most correct one, but definitely not the most used or easiest understood. The New Yorkers revels in keeping a division between itself and its readers in through this "us versus them" way of writing. Those who can easily grasp all of the texts in the magazine can feel very self-important. Although they are usually staying within their own circles, talking in circles too.

I have a friend whose father challenged her to always use the highest Lexile level words when speaking. After being present during one of their interactions, I complained that the way they speak is incomprehensible to me. She admitted that half the time she's not sure what he goes on about and just humors him because she didn't want to admit not actually understanding him.

Here are a couple of suggestions on correcting your text:

a good read..I am not *Right* Only one period needed and then an empty space before "I".
WHew *Right* Whew (keep the "h" lowercase in the middle of the word)
