Hi Gaby ~ Keeper Of The Realm .

I'm JACE , and I have the honor of reviewing your offering "Next Mozart or Simple Basics? as part of a ten review mini-raid. This is #3.

*Note1*
Overall Impression. I am not a piano player. My wife plays both piano and the organ at her church. But I am amazed at anyone who can navigate the 88 keys spanning a 48-inch keyboard. I play guitar, and it's so much simpler. Hmm, perhaps it's simpler because I know how to play it.

There's hobbies ... and there's HOBBIES. Obviously, some hobbies take lots of time and effort. And I believe playing a piano is one of the latter. When I was younger I traded lessons. I taught guitar to a lady who TRIED to teach me piano. She got the better end.

Of course, all music uses the letters A through G along with all the sharps and flats that makeup the songs. I must admit that I tried hard to understand your descriptions of finger placement. But I failed. I think it's more my inability to comprehend that your ability to explain.

"Little black dots"--that's what I call musical notes. I can't read them, which is probably why no piano in my future. I play guitar by ear. I have heard about the use of mnemonics to remember the various scales. Using them has probably saved many a student.

Editorial Thoughts. I think your ability to explain things in a technical manner is much better than mine. May I suggest a small change to your title? I think shortening it to The Simple Basics would be stronger.

I'm impressed with you selecting such a difficult topic to teach, and taking the time to write it down. Your imagination is showing through.

Teaching a piano is best done by sight.

Technical Considerations.

*Bullet* Separating the following into two distinct sentences will make your thoughts stronger. Separate after music.
Beethoven and many others wrote their own music, but in this case, it didn't help me.

Favorite Part.   So, next time you see a cow eat grass, thank her for helping all these children to play piano.

My Rating.  4.5.
