Hi Legerdemain,
I am reviewing items in your portfolio as part of Door 5 for Game of Thrones. This item stood out for me because I love the Eagles song Hotel California so this book and the title entry immediately appealed to me. I am so glad you included the youtube video of it as part of the entry to go along with it.

The short story included was a fun one. Knowing the Eagles song very well, I had a feeling I knew how the story would play out when the lead character checked into a hotel. Sure enough the character was unable to leave the Hotel. The story itself is very good entering slightly into the science fiction genre with a futuristic setting. You do a good job of setting up the hotel as a luxurious place with an eerie element to it. The lead character Angel comes off as sympathetic as readers experience the story from her point of view. We experience the feelings she has with her... Her intial excitement with the activities which eventually turns to boredom as everything gets repetitive. This is followed her wanting to leave followed by her shock and surprise at not being able to leave.

When the character finds out she is unable to leave the hotel due to a contract, the story takes on a Twilight zone feel to it. I felt like I was watching one of the older episodes where something strange happens to the main character and the other characters act like everything is perfectly normal. The hotel employees had a little bit of a humane touch to them as you could tell they were sympathetic to the lead. The story seemed to hint they might have been bound by contracts of their own.

This story is excellently written and works perfectly as is though if you did consider expanding it, I would recommend giving a little description of the character getting tired of the activities of the Hotel as it will help readers connect with her decision to leave the hotel and make her getting trapped there more dramatic. Overall though I really enjoyed reading this story very much.
