Letter from the editor

Do you find writing science fiction and fantasy fun? Do you find reviewing science fiction and fantasy educational? Do you find reviewing science fiction and fantasy fun? Did you know that writing.com has a Science Fiction and Fantasy Group? If the answer to any or all of these questions is yes, then you need to check out and join "Fantasy and Science Fiction Society by filling out "Invalid Item.

I can answer yes to all of those questions. I have already filled out the application and belong to the Science Fiction and Fantasy Society. My next step is focus on reviewing these genres. When I review science fiction, I look for technology and the way characters interact with or respond to the technology. When I read fantasy I look for magic and the way the characters interact with or respond to the magic. I also look for creatures from mythology, such as dragons and other mythological creatures.

Since I have determined what I look for, my next step is to create a either a template or a written list of what I look for. I need one or the other of these, because I am one of those people who tends to get lost in an exciting story. Therefore, a template would probably be my best option. In addition, the Science Fiction and Fantasy Society has a new review forum, so a template makes more sense.

On men or beasts to live or thrive,
To suck their lives to maintain our own.

Terressan Lore: The Tale of the Orbs  (E)
(aka The Story of Creation, as told by Terratessa to the Siyens)
#1424963 by Roari ∞

Excerpt: Scattered wide across the vast darkness were millions of great Masses of Light, and though their numbers were great, they were insignificant in comparison to the void that surrounded them. The light and energy that each emitted so powerfully held them at a great distance from each other, such that each one from another only appeared as a small point of light.

 I, Data  (18+)
Contest entry with the prompt "FanFiction"
#2225206 by Sam N. Yago

Excerpt: My name is Data. I am a Starfleet officer but I am uncertain of my rank at this time. I have been a Lieutenant Commander—and even made history as the first android to command a starship as her Captain—but this and all other minute detail about me depends on where this author’s mind takes this story.

OHO - The Great HOPE  (E)
What will be the Great HOPE for Humanity?
#2225626 by QueenNormaJeanGreeneggs&vegham

Excerpt: He was very fat, and reclined on an equally fat pillow. Greasy hair spilled over the pillow onto the floor. He wheezed and sneezed and retched. A crowd gathered around him and awaited his next words.

Excerpt: It's not every day you hear of a star ship coming to life but here I am. It all happened on star date ##########. The crew of the U.S.S Sol was on a routine mission of exploring the far reaches of space. They had had some trouble with a race called the Hartang. An interesting species that had a habit of making their own doors with a space warping technology. The only problem the ship's crew had was this race had a habit of scavenging thing they found without thinking about it. They also were able to integrate organic matter into already operating systems and that's where I come in. On this mission I had started out researching what they had done to one of the shuttle crafts. One of the shuttle crafts doors had been turned in to operational flesh responding to normal commands and yet there was something else going on there. I had taken samples of the doors tissues and was in one of the science labs close to the computer core of the ship when it happened.
