Letter from the editor

This is a slightly delayed newsletter and perhaps that was noticed by some. I, myself, did get a little overwhelmed recently, which is what brings also a changed topic for this planned newsletter. We often have a lot going on and when you have deadlines, work, activities and ideas, it is possible to become rather overwhelmed by it all.

For me, right now, the culprit is work. Between vaccine clinics, long shifts, pharmacist who doesn't understand the term off the clock, and a big decision impending, it is easy to get behind or miss a deadline. Oh and there was that essay due last night written in the hours before the deadline. Things start to add up and it can become difficult to get the time managing into a proper form.

But it isn't just work. Ever find you have so many story ideas that it becomes overwhelming? I have that often. There are a number of challenges when getting rained down upon by showers of potential writing ideas. Which one do you pick? What story gets more attention? Is it time to edit that one near ready for submission? What about the new idea? You don't want to forget anything, yet there are so many options at times, it's hard to make those decisions.

Now, let's focus on you instead of me. How do you combat the feeling of being overwhelmed? Share any tricks and trades you have with the newsletter response or even put up a discussion on the site discussion forum. I'll catch up soon and be back to the action asap.

Ask & Answer

Does you ever feel overwhelmed when it comes to writing?

Last time for this newsletter I discussed ending and NaNoWriMo. Here are a couple comments that were sent in over the topic.

Comment by hbk16
Nanowrimo motivates people to offer more words. But really I have never ceased the final purpose of it.
Great issue! Your opinion is well emphasized indeed.

This is my first year at NaNoWriMo, and I only have a title. So, thanks for this newsletter. It's somewhat of a relief-read. The novel has to have a beginning, middle, and end. That's all I need to know at this point. As far as I'm concerned let's start at November 1st.
