How often have you come across a contest or activity forum and wondered if it was still open?
Have you posted in forums and not gotten an answer? Have you emailed contest or activity hosts to find out about something you discovered in the listings?
Just how it is frustrating to come across a contest and want to write for it, but not know if anyone is running it, it's just as frustrating to offer a contest for the community and not get any entries.
There are times when the members on the site are collectively absorbed by things. In the first week of September, it was the birthday bash. During October, some of us are barely hanging on to sanity as they prepare for the completely mind-blowing marathon sprint of NaNoWriMo in November.
While all of those things are valid reasons to feel a little under the weather, those ongoing contests still need your attention. Many ask for relatively short fiction stories of 300 to 1000 words. Some ask for short poetry. Each one is a chance for you to practice writing, stretch your imagination, and maybe win a prize.
Go to "Writing Contests @ Writing.Com" to find fresh contests.
Go to "Activities @ Writing.Com" to find non-contest activities. Some of them can be word searches, polls, acronym games, and more.
Make all those contest hosts and activity hosts busy so that they keep their ongoing contests ... well ongoing of course. |
