Favorites!

Do you have favorites? Favorite contests and activities? While it's good fun to connect with other writers in a contest or activity that runs over successive days or months, do you like to branch out and meet new people? I like to check out all the different challenges and prompts out there and choose things that might inspire a good entry.

One of the best things about WDC is the community. Our members encourage one another and help us keep on track with our goals. There are people from all over the world, with all kinds of experiences, that a member can meet with and connect. We understand the writing process and love to share it with others. It's different talking with other writers, rather than family and friends.

If you take the time and look at some of the long-running contests, you'll see familiar faces there. Getting to know long-term members can be helpful, they can steer you to the more obscure corners of WDC and show you the ropes.

So reach out and connect with friends, or make new ones. And as always, Write On.

The WDC version of Bingo also has the materials of the game such as the card, the caller's card and of course, the patterns which grant you delightful rewards. Ask & Answer

This month's question: Do you have a favorite contest/activity or two? Send in your answer below! *Down* Editors love feedback!

Last month's "Contests & Activities Newsletter (January 18, 2023) question: Do you have evergreen characters you like to drop into stories?

oldgreywolf scribbles : I was thinking someone more poplar, but weeping and willowy, wood cotton to a tremendous outdoor setting, with their birch hiking staff and purple-furred dog, Lupine.

Why they tinted the furball's fur purple remains an unanswered question.

D. Reed Whittaker : I couldn't find a definition for an 'evergreen character'. I assume it a character, or characters which appear in more than one venue, genre, and or situation. I write for an older audience. Steve and MarieAnne (66) appear in different guises, different time periods, different situations. They may have different names, but their characteristics - self-aware, self-actuated, mature - are usually there. For other genres (western, farm family, spy, thriller) they may be younger and not quite as mature, but the skeleton is there. Little angst and problem solvers. Intelligent, motivated, and caring.

Thank you for your responses, they are much appreciated.
