What an interesting quote, wouldn't you say? If technology is truly a gift from God, why do I see nothing but doom following its footsteps?
While Utopia is supposed to be a perfection of the world, I'm sure it wouldn't come without a few major glitches. Dystopia seems much more likely to happen in the near future and while it's considered science fiction, I think it should be a horror subgenre.  I mean, all you have to do is open your eyes, truly open them and look around. Can't you feel those creepy, slimy fingers crawling out of the darkness trying to get a hold of anything possible?
Many say that technology, because it's becoming so advanced, will be the death of us. True or not, I can see some merit in it if you will. While I love the fact that almost all information is accessible by the touch of a fingertip, it also feels that many are incapable of moving past that. There's a whole generation out there who wouldn't know what to do, how to survive, how to communicate without the little screens in front of their faces.
Like I said, I'm not opposed to technology. It has its advantages but at the same time it has its disadvantages. Every day something is added onto a little screen for easy access, for our convenience. At the same time I see elderly who aren't capable of keeping up with all this new information. All this is so beyond them that they stop doing what they used to because they don't know how to. If there's no one to help them, well, they're simply out of luck.
Want to travel? Check in online. Want to do some shopping? Do everything yourself and pay. There are so many things where there's zero people communication necessary or required, for our convenience apparently. I've noticed more and more elderly basically being pushed out of the system because they can't keep up with today's technology. You want horror? There it is.
Just imagine 20 or 30 years from now. How far will technology take us? And which age group will be left out without a care? I hope that gives you some food for thought.

I was delighted when I saw that you were writing about comedy combined with horror in this Newsletter. Horror is not really my thing (I don't read it apart from stories by other writers in WDC) but I have been attempting it in thanks to Angus and his contest, SCREAMS!!! He helped me greatly when I first arrived here and it was the least I could do to provide regular fodder for the SCREAMS!!! judges. It was hard work, however, until I thought of including comedy in the deal. Suddenly it came more naturally to me and easier as a result. Probably half of my horror output now includes humour, often as the whole point of the story.
I am so very pleased to hear that you enjoyed my last newsletter!  I find it hard to believe that horror isn't your thing but I can see you've played with the genre and found what works for you. Angus is amazing and you're not alone when it comes to him helping with the writing. Just like with you, he's the reason why I ended up enjoying writing horror more than I thought I would. I do miss him. Thank you again for sharing your thoughts!
