*Note1*Romance Song Showdown Part I

Altogether, 62 people voted by survey or phone. As the field of 160 narrowed to 80 top songs, some favorites were necessarily eliminated. Just missing the cut (by a few votes each) were "Cherish" by Kool & The Gang " and "Secret Garden" by Bruce Springsteen.

The least favorite pick was obvious: with only three votes, "First Time On A Ferris Wheel" by Smokey Robinson was tied by write-in picks "Crazy Love" by Brian McKnight and "Just Because" by Anita Baker. The top vote-getter tallied 66 votes. I won't say what it was, except for a hint: it was animated.

If the last survey had you pulling out your hair, get ready to go bald this time:

*Star* Romance Writing Challenge: I have a stash of gps up for grabs, so I'm putting your fingers to the test. Since we're doing the most romantic song showdown, I'd like for you to write romantic lyrics. You can send them to me through email, or submit them to the newsletter. Post it by bitem if you'd like it to be featured in my next newsletter.

*Star*What The Readers Have To Say:

AuntyNelly : It was very difficult to eliminate some songs. I was disappointed not seeing Let's get it on by Marvin Gaye. One of my favorite songs and which brings back happy memories.

spazmom : There were a lot of songs that weren't on the list that I would have picked. My all time favorite is "Forever in My Heart" by Kenny Loggins. I had a hard time finding 5 in each category. Obviously, I didn't find that many in several of them. It looks like you got quite the selection of music though.

cerianwen : Some of these were classics; sad that "Never Gonna Leave Your Side" by Daniel Beddingfield wasn't on the list. That's my wedding song.

Voxxylady : It was impossible to choose five in some cases I think are fitting. I song I would have added would be "You Are So Beautiful" by Kenny Rogers.

Kenzie : Difficult? Yes! I cut and pasted into each box, then started eliminating. It seemed that in each box, I'd still have six or seven, then have to dump another one or two. Yikes! Should there be more here? Oh probably, but right now all of these songs are trying to play in my mind. And it's getting rather crowded in there.

Just Jamie : I would've loved to see the song "Ever the Same" by Rob Thomas. It's so sweet and beautiful. "Midnight Train to Georgia" by Gladys Knight and the Pips...the line "I'd rather live in his world than be without him in mine" is very touching and romantic to me.

Midiock : I was disappointed in not seeing "For Emily, Whenever I May Find Her" - by Simon & Garfunkel, which, in my opinion, is the best love song ever sung.

Tiggy : I found it incredibly difficult to choose songs for two reasons: Firstly, there were quite a few songs I didn't know, and while I made the effort to look them up at first, by the time I got about a third of the way through I realized it would take me the rest of the day if I carried on like that. Secondly, I kept wanting to choose the songs that I liked best, not necessarily the ones I thought were most romantic and it was hard putting down songs I really didn't like.

Scarlett : Nearly all my favorites are somewhere in the survey.

*Bullet* Incurable Romantic : Lexi, since I had used a form of that tip of yours about the radio station, there's no way I could let that go without a supporting comment. It's definitely worth passing on.

*Star* Thanks to everyone who is taking part in the showdown. I'm excited to see how this next round will go.
