Inspiration
Last month I asked the question: Who inspires you? I received several good answers, but one really inspired me.
Rebecca Laffar-Smith  answered:
“Many people inspire me. I find I often write poetry inspired by the people in my life I love. My children, my partner, my mother, family alive, and family passed all inspire me. I can be equally inspired by a stranger on the street, a young woman pushing a restless newborn in a pram, an elderly lady, frail and bent but with a warm smile on her face, teenagers grating the metal spokes of their skateboards against the rail.
Life inspires me, and it doesn't even have to be human life to be inspirational. Animals, plants, even the wind and the ocean have the energy and essence of 'life' that inspires. Just to be alive in this world is enough to give inspiration a place to grow and cultivate.”
Many times I have complained about the lack of inspiration or commented that my “muse” has taken a vacation when I can’t seem to eek out even the simplest of poems. Haven’t we all? I compare writing poetry to giving birth. It’s a painful process more often than not. It seems that only one out of every ten poems comes about naturally, without a tremendous amount of pushing, moaning, heavy breathing, occasional cursing and a lot of wishing the entire thing was over. Yes, very similar to my experience in the hospital just over eight years ago. When you have to go through something as tumultuous as that, it certainly helps to have a little inspiration guiding your efforts. After reading Rebecca Laffar-Smith ’s answer, I was reminded that inspiration is all around us, we just have to look. I hope that you can find a little inspiration in your surroundings as well.

phip100 says: “Well, your article was very bad, not the topic I mean the composition, I mean you butter us all up nicely with the intro paragraph but then trail off, for a whole paragraph about Egypt.....well one could argue that you do lead into the next paragraph and vice versa. You did manage to say that both poetry and Egyptian seemed to be facinated with Death. but your thesis is entirely unsupported. Not trying to be mean, but this is simple english and you lost it.”
I’m sorry you missed the point of the article.
Savannah Lynn<3  says: In reply to your question of the month, I would have to say my relationships inspire me the most. Good and bad relationships make great starts to a story or a poem. My boyfriends through the past few years have truly been inspirations, even though they don't know it! Tee Hee!!”
 I have to agree with you on this one!
Moody Blue: Needs an Upgrade says: “Who inspires me is my son. His daily encounters and ups and downs are what make me the best mother I can be. I try to teach him the lessons that my parents did not teach me.”
My son is an inspiration, too!
fleckgirl says: “My children and my parents inspire me. I now have the task of making a full life for my children until they're old enough to go out on their own as my parents did for me. I feel very fortunate in the way that I grew up. My parents provided everything I could ever ask for. I am proud of them and they inspire me to want to do the same for my children, whose compassion and love make me prouder than words can ever express.”
