Letter from the editor

Sweetest Day was Saturday last. Now, I'm not a big fan of this hallmark of a holiday, but it did get me thinking about romance and romantic moments.

Ten years ago or so I went off to meet someone I'd only met 'on line.' "How will I know you?" I'd asked him. "Follow the trail of roses I was told." I lived near Boston at the time and was meeting him at the Alewife T Stop. As I stepped off the train, I saw a path of rose blossoms on the train platform. Red and yellow and peach and pink and white petals formed a path leading the length of the platform and then up four flights of stairs. I followed the path through the entire terminal, out the front door and down the sidewalk to a nearby park. By this time I had a trail of people following me to see what was going on! There, sitting on one of the benches, surrounded in rose petals and hold a dozen roses for me was the man I'd come to meet. Well, the relationship didn't pan out, but it is high up on the list of my all time romantic moments!

I spent Saturday morning helping my other half haul a 4 point buck out of the woods. I'd met him at the halfway mark with a jug of Gator aid because he was tired from the first half of the trek out and getting dehydrated. Three quarters of a mile up hill and down (mostly up) did we pull this deer along a narrow trail through the woods. Then, because there were horses waiting behind us, we ran the last part of the uphill part with the deer sliding along behind us. As we finally got back to the truck and got the buck in the back, he turned to me and said that my helping him was one of the most romantic things a female had ever done for him. Happy Sweetest Day!

Romance is definitely in the heart of the beholder!

Romance is where you find it. Odd, unscheduled moments can often end up being romantic. Romance is not all candle light, secluded trysts or four postered canopy beds. Romance is the everyday things if you know how to see them...with your heart.

Ask & Answer

Awesome newsletter, I am a younger person, only a 1/3rd through my life, but my heart flutters and my eyes tear whenever I see an older couple that are like your Flossie and Samuel. I would love to get some recomended reads about older couples in love. ---Sweet Musings

*Leaf1* Thank you...senior love is awesome!

Very cool letter here, an excellent point that romance is not only for the young and that it ultimately consists of more than sack time, so to speak, I am a new guy with one item in my portfolio, but I would be very grateful if you would take a look at it? It is in step with your focus, almost "30 Years.---hbar

*Leaf1*I'm so glad you enjoyed...

Fyn,
Great job on guest editting for this issue. I love that you discuss how love evolves throughout time. Love doesn't grow old, but you can grow old with love on your side.--Lexi

*Leaf1* Thanks Lexi!

Great newsletter. I totally agree. I'm always amazed and impressed when I hear a couple that has made it to 50 or more years together. That's my goal! I love my hubby more now than when we got married, and we've only been married 21 years...so I'm hoping to have many more to look forward to.---spazmom

*Leaf1* Me too!

I'm 55, been married for 35 years and there isn't much more fun than holding hands and walking with your bride.--Bluesman

*Leaf1*Amen!

Bravo! Let's hear it for "old love"! - I'm just
starting to get there myself, but from what I've seen so far, it beats the tangled drama of young love any day!---heartofahawk

*Leaf1*So very true!

Oh my God!!! This is the most wonderful Newsletter I have ever read. Of course, I have learned so much from others too, but this one is special because it is about more than writing. It is about the infinite gift of love.

Thank you for your realistic, yet deeply moving approach!---AXiLeA

*Leaf1* Well didn't this just make my day! Thank YOU!

A very good newsletter, Robin. You're right about the viewpoints on romance as we mature. There's so much more to a relationship than bodily ones.---SHERRI GIBSON

*Leaf1* Yes ma'am!

So I have a question for you all: What was your most romantic moment? Let me know as I'll use 'em next time around! Fyn
