Letter from the editor

It is so easy to feel lost in a site as big as Writing.Com! Where do you begin? How do you get involved? How do you get people to visit your portfolio and most of all, how do you get them to leave you ratings and even better, reviews?

First, getting your name out there will get you seen. Post in the newbie boards if you're new. Post in the General Message forum if you're not new. Post items in the appropriate Plug Page and you may have a visitor or two.

Using your Site Navigation bar will help you figure out how the site works. Click on and read some of the sponsored items, and then review it when you're finished. A lot of times, authors will return a review and thus you will get ratings and reviews by giving ratings and reviews.

Enter long-term contests where people can get to know you. It's a great way to showcase your writing and to also read the work of others' and develop reviewing relationships with them. It will get members to visit your portfolio. You will visit other members' portfolios and network.

The biggest part of Writing.Com is in networking. Entering contests is networking. Reviewing the work of others' is networking. Posting in forums is networking. Joining groups is networking.

If you network, the reviews will come.
