Reading a horror story, one that keeps you on the edge of your seat until the last page, is what every horror fan dreams of. Being scared, to the point that sleep is almost impossible, makes the read all the more worthwhile. Does that make us crazy? You bet!!!

Where do the ideas come from?


Usually, when a writer sits down at their computer they have an idea, even if it's just a glimmer of one.

But what if your muse isn't doing her job? What if you need a little push to get that story going?

Any of these ideas could be used to write a wonderfully scary story. Combining more than one can bring a very different perspective to your tale. How about an Egyptian werewolf? Or a vampire that contracts a flesh-eating virus? Anything is possible in the world of horror writing*Laugh*

Hello Squirrel!
I laugh at gory descriptions, probably because as a health care worker I know which of them could really happen, and which don't. I also laugh at gory movies, so for me, the more psychological horror is effective. I used to have contests with my sister on who could gross each other out first. Usually it was a tie!

Squirrely,
Gore is not necessary if the fear of your characters is forefront. Sometimes just the thought of what might happen is enough to give anybody the 'yuck' factor.
