How Do I Subscribe or Unsubscribe to Newsletters?

Every once in a while, I'll find a message on our Feedback page that says something like: Do not send me this newsletter! I don't try to understand why someone might be rude about it, but I guess we all have a Real Life that affects our decisions. And I must add, not everyone is upset about getting a free newsletter in their email. But why not give it a try? The Noticing Newbies Newsletter is automatically sent to new members, welcoming newbies with open arms. And if you would like to unsubscribe, I will tell you two simple ways to do it. *Smile* You can always resubscribe later, if you wish.

Before I explain the simple steps of canceling and/or adding subscriptions, I'll go over a few reasons why a member might benefit from WDC's newsletters.

*Bullet* You might learn something you didn't know before.
*Bullet* You might feel a connection to what the editor is sharing.
*Bullet* Perhaps you have valuable feedback to give.
*Bullet* You might find a helpful or interesting forum to visit.
*Bullet* Perhaps you will begin a new relationship with a fellow writer.

The variety of newsletters this community offers are all free! To me, hey... Free is Free! I subscribe to all the newsletters here because... they are free. *Bigsmile* Oh, I suppose I enjoy browsing through them a bit, too. *Wink* Actually, I don't always get a chance to read all of them, but if I do... that's great! If I don't... I delete them after a week... or so. *Rolleyes*

Whether you want to subscribe or unsubscribe, you must first of all, find Site Tools under Site Navigation. This is located on the left side of the screen. Once you click on it, you will discover a variety of options to pick from. Newsletters is what you are looking for. *Smile* This should take you to "Newsletter Area where you will find four subtitles:

*Note* Submit an Item For Consideration
*Note* Leave Feedback About a Newsletter
*Note* Manage Newsletter Subscriptions
*Note* Writing.Com Newsletter Archives

After you click on Manage Newsletter Subscriptions, you will find a list of genres each weekly newsletter offers:

Action/Adventure
Comedy
Drama
Fantasy
Horror/Scary
Mystery
Romance/Love
Spiritual
Contests & Activities
Noticing Newbies
Poetry
Short Stories
For Authors

You may pick and choose whatever newsletter you wish to receive! (And did I mention they are all FREE???) *Rolleyes* To unsubscribe to a newsletter, delete the check mark in the box next to the unwanted newsletter you are receiving.

Another option is going to My Account if you just want to unsubscribe to a FREE newsletter (((*Frown*))). You will find Manage Newsletter Subscriptions where you can click on and find the choices once again. Both avenues take you to the same place where you can pick and choose another subscription or delete one.

Now... Go find another newsletter or so to consider! *Smile*

Have a wonderful week!!!

Keep on Writing!

Yours truly,
Cubby ")

And Now For Our Featured Newbies!

 The Robber Mice  [E]
A band of robber mice steal pumpkins from two young girls who must battle to recover them.
by Paul

Excerpt: You could have blamed the pumpkins for starting it all. Innocent though they appeared, if it had not been for them none of it would have happened. Then all the things I'm about to tell you would be might-have-beens left over from a summer day.

 Ideal   [18+]
Here's a part of my story, "Ideal." A writer's ideal villian comes to life
by Goddess Of Imperfection

Excerpt: Darkness had filled most of the room, leaving Drake with only the small patch of light illuminated by the weak light bulb hanging above him. The floor he lay limp on was cold, sending shivers up his spine, making him shutter uncontrollably. Every two minutes, he'd shut his eyes for a few seconds then open them, hoping he'd be somewhere else. As horrified as the young writer was of the dark, it wasn't the blanket of blackness he feared this time. It was what waited for him inside the darkness.

 Prophecy (Book 1)-Ch.1  [13+]
1 pixie princess, 1 prophesied hero, and 1 immortal assassin work to unite 2 worlds
by Katie Gamboa

Excerpt: Kasey MacKenna flashed five long fingers at her best friend. Five more minutes, only five more minutes until freedom! Brian Campbell—still mentally cursing his teacher for putting him in a non-clock-viewing position—was virtually vibrating in his seat with anticipation. Five minutes was all that stood between him and almost three months of much-needed vacation time. If only his teacher would stop droning on, she sounded like the teacher in Charlie Brown. BRRRING. At the sound of the bell, two-dozen kids jumped out of their seats as one, papers flying; the teacher sought refuge behind her desk.

THE COUNTY FAIR  [E]
Those were the days my friend we hoped would never end.
by Oldwarrior

Excerpt: The County Fair has always held a special place in my mind and in my heart for I still associate it with wonderful memories of a time of innocence and purity. I vividly remember the time my foster grandfather took us to the annual County Fair along with half a score of cousins, several neighbors' kids, a few dogs and one scrawny old cat that little Martha Sue called 'Whillickers'.

FEEDBACK

Acme
The Book Thief was one of my favourite reads of last year - still has to be beaten this year, so I haven't got one to recommend yet *Blush* Ace newsletter, Cubby *Thumbsup*

~ Thank you! *Smile* All the libraries in our county are going to do a book discussion on this title beginning in January. There is SO much to cover in this book. I just loved the way the author wrote it, though it was hard to get into at the very first. I'm so, so glad I read it. I cannot stop thinking about it. Thanks for your response!!!

maryelle
Your advice is timely, and not just for the new writers on WDC. I glean something from them every time. Thanks a million.

~ Thank you very much. You are very kind!

gogomomo
stop sending me (newsletter) noticing newbie!

~ Follow the instructions in this week's editorial and you shall be relieved of this subscription. *Smile*

Shen Wasuno
I just wanted to send my thanks for such informative aspects concerning this literary world. Thank you and all who maintain this wonderful site. Until a next time.

~ It's so nice to receive feedback like this. And thank you for a wonderful response!

Shen Wasuno
Thanks a lot for the pro tips.
I'm really sorry that I'm not a vastly participant member, but, as you know, everyday life gets quite complicated.
In the future, I'll try my very best to manage more participation.
I'm trying hard to become better and better as a writer. Always room for improvement.
And you, people, are my primus inter pares.
Pax Vobiscum.

~ It's not always easy to participate in all that you would like to. Real Life has a way of ruling our time. *Smile*
primus inter pares means "First among equals" if anyone is curious about that. *Wink* Thank you, Pax, for such a kind and friendly response.

Recommended Books
Please send me your favorites!
Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher
I highly recommend this well-written YA novel for a book discussion, whether it's in your home with your teen, in a classroom, or at a regular book discussion at the library or coffee shop. This book is narrated by a teen-aged boy, Clay, who receives 13 cassette tapes from a girl he used to have a crush on, only she committed suicide not that long ago. Also included on the tapes are thirteen people's names who will all eventually be sent the tapes. Guilt, confusion, regret. Those are just a few of the feelings Clay experiences while listening to Hannah's recordings. Hannah Baker's voice is written in italics while Clay narrates his emotional responses in between. Haunting. Boggling. I highly recommend it..

Quote
There is no royal path to good writing;
and such paths as exist do not lead through neat critical gardens,
various as they are, but through the jungles of self, the world, and of craft.
