Resolutions for a New Year

Many people make resolutions for the New Year. It could be lose weight, or quit smoking, or stop eating lunch at that hot dog cart outside work. Did you make any membership resolutions for Writing.com? I have a few suggestions, perhaps one or more will help you improve in the coming year.

*Idea* Join a group! The more people you get to know, the bigger your network. Networking helps get your items read and reviewed.

*Idea* Review! Reaching out to others will bring more traffic to your portfolio. Goodwill is contagious! Try to become a better reviewer. Look at your reviews and see if a new template might work better. Try to give more helpful, constructive criticism.

*Idea* Keep writing! Join a contest, or journal consistantly. The more you write, the better you will become. Keep your creative mental muscle in shape. Not only should you seek to publish the work you have finished, but start new projects.

*Idea* Edit! Have you done the editing suggested in the reviews others sent? Now is the time to get all your work polished and ready for new reviews.

*Idea* Take that big step and start submitting your work. Today's economy is making the slush pile much larger and published items scarce. Hedge your bet and submit more.

*Idea* Hug a newbie! Remember when you joined and you felt so welcome? Spread the cheer, not only will you help perpetuate the great spirit of our community, it will make you feel good too!

So in closing, I'd like to suggest making a list of goals you would like to achieve with your work. Write on!
