Excerpt: Darren lazily fell through the front door, stumbling up over the step and using the wall to balance himself. His jacket was glistening from the rain, his hair damp and slick against his skull. In his jacket pocket, a small bunch of battered flowers stemmed out, within a transparent plastic wrapper. Most of the stems were broken and the flower-heads themselves were hanging on to dear life.

Excerpt:

I wrote you love sonnets

You drew me pictures I won't forget

But the colors, as bold as they were

They were beginning to fade away.

Life can be cruel to us all

Excerpt:

Fasten your belts it is time to derail,
Embrace your life with all the betrayal

Excerpt: I stared up at the ceiling, brooding from my bed. I frowned. How was I supposed to keep Luna safe with this demon inside of me? What if I was possessed at a time that was not usual and I was caught off guard with Luna at my side? “Silly, what is there to be upset about?” she light-heartedly teased. I turned my head to meet her playful gaze. Her soft perfect lips were curved into a lovely smile. Her curious, stormy-blue eyes searched my eyes for what was bothering me. Without thinking I sighed contently and moved a strand of her moon-touched, flaxen hair from her face, staring into her eyes with a feeling that everything was right in the world.

Excerpt: Yvonne looked at her mom. She wanted to scream at her. How can you not know where your husband is going? How can you not know when he’s coming back? How could you not wake me? But instead, Yvonne slid the $20 back to her mom and said, “You keep it. The truck’s running on fumes.”

FEEDBACK

Google docs is a good place to store some of you already written stuff. I've got so many half baked and half finished ideas with research that I've lost count. Go ahead. Pack rat it at Google. Google notes is good too. Have a ball. And remember: some of that pack ratted stuff will come up in contest here at Writing.com

~ Thanks for the tip! *Smile* I'll definitely check it out.

Coolhand
Great advice about recycling your work. A writer should never discard anything. Good work, Cubby.

~ Thank you! *Bigsmile* I don't throw any of my work away. I'm sure all my characters are getting very impatient with me. *Rolleyes*

Still Alice by Lisa Genova
A novel told from the point of view of a 50 year old woman who learns she has early-onset Alzheimer's. Alice's daily life slowly leaves her less and less independent. I felt like I was inside her mind throughout the entire book. I highly recommend this book. *Smile*
