Beware! The unwelcomed visitor from a darker world! 
What can ever be more scary or fill you with more unshakable terror that being haunted? Whether it is the smallest paranormal activity, to have your hair pulled, dishes thrown at you, to extreme malicious activity, to intense screaming, visions of malevolent intent, OH! (shudders), yanked into the air by invisible hands, and slapped repeatedly. Well, Could you really imagine being truly haunted? Can you? (wonders) I have.

One man and his daughter experienced such torment, and in American history are know as the first ever case where one person was haunted causing death, and all descendants since. He was John Bell, kept company by Bell Witch, who's evil afterlife, never gave him peace till he died, or his daughter. In his last days, as seizures racked his feeble body, her haunting spirit still slapped him endlessly, as he took his last breath.
Who are they, you ask? This is what I learned, and shared with my husband. He did not sleep well that night. 
"Kate" the Bell Witch, a sinister poltergeist, believed (by some) to be Kate Bates, not much is actually known as to why she became so unsettled, from what I learned, she cursed John Bell, on her deathbed that he and his family would never have peace again for stealing her land.
John Bell, or "Old Jack Bell" as the spirit called him, (1750 to 1820) Moved to an area called "The Barren Plains". Today know as Robertson County Tennessee. He settled in with his wife, Lucy Bell, and lived prospering for seven years, having three sons and one daughter, who once the hauntings began, That daughter got almost all of the entity's rage, other than John Bell.
One day in 1817, John Bell was in his fields, and saw a animal that appeared to be wolf with the head of a rabbit. He shot at it many times as the story goes and it just vanished. That night, the horror that would be his death, visited him and his family with beating sounds within the walls of their home. First they were calm, thinking it was animals, and searching for the case, then it became worse and they would have their covers and pillows tossed from their beds, then a faint voice could be heard, crying. Then it changed, the evil learned words, cursed, and mocked them.
The "Hauntings" escalated from here, to all one could imagine. Beating, chanting, screaming, being poked with sharp things, for over a year. Friends, no one could help, those some tried, and on the morning of December 20, 1820, John bell died, his body being violently beaten, as the voice of the spirit laughed. A small vile was found, which was given to John's cat, killing it instantly. It is believed the "Bell Witch" poisoned him.

John Bell's funeral was one pf the largest in history and as everyone left his burial site, the poltergeist is said to have sang a song cheerfully about a bottle of brandy.
This is well documented, oozing forth "The Red Book" in 1894, also known as "An Authenticated History of the Bell Witch of Tennessee" by Martin Van Buren Ingram, Later came "An American Haunting", "The Blair Witch Project" and many plays and books. Look into this darling event, I had a wonderful time, getting spooked.
(crackles most evil like) I am StaiNed-House Targaryen I can say that being haunted, whether the "Bell Witch" is true or not, would be horror in a most personal way. Invasion of your home, your mind, your body, and your spirit. If even it was only a slight experience, do ya think you would see the restless dead in the same way again?

Awesome newsletter! Love the topic. Though I don't imagine I appreciated you too much when I was little and you were torturing me with the thought that the bogyman would come and snatch me away any second.  Not very nice sis. Not at all! Though if I was the older sister in the situation I probably would have done the same. We really are too much alike! Can't wait for your next newsletter.
Muwhahaha! Hugs! Thanks little sister! I still remember the look your eyes held, and well if I could go back I would not do so again, I feel bad about it now. The Boogeyman was close that night. You are a shadow to me, indeed we are so alike.

I'm new on WDC...but I liked the 'letter! To be honest, I signed up for several 'letters' and this one was the most interesting. Loved the boogey info. Tight and focused, that is something to be proud of, for sure! Great data and well researched, presented with dispatch. Overall, I think I'm going to consider switching some of my time to working in this genre--just simply because you make it seem that this crowd is better organized...or more involved with their work. Great job.

Stained! (aka. Tarnished),I just loved your newsletter about the Boogerman. These nose-picking miners really freak me out. Mostly, you can find their handiwork smeared on the walls around the bed, or encrusted upon some innocent headboard. Beware the Boogerman! Beware!
They always freaked me out Bill too, still do. as having small children myself now, the Boogeyman visits me often. Beware indeed, you could write a awesome story, about as you see your own Boogeyman lurking, I'm sure. Thanks so much, it means alot to have one who writes such great newsletters himself, enjoy my first one.
