Happy December!


Many of us have just finished with the insanity known as NaNoWriMo, and whether you've crossed that 50k finish line or not, you deserve a hearty

*Balloon1*Congratulations*Balloon1*



Because isn't the real point of something like NaNo just the participation itself? There is no physical reward for NaNo. No cash prize or trophy or ribbon. There's no first place prize for the best novel or the most words written. So, why do we do it?

For the experience and the satisfaction of completing such a big task! There's a feeling of camaraderie in attempting the task and in the amount of encouragement that goes on with NaNoWriMo. There's also a great feeling of accomplishment in knowing you've completed something you've set out to do. And this is the perfect time of year to do such a thing! With the holiday season upon us, it's the perfect time to do things with no big reward in mind other than the act itself.

Some ideas:

*Bullet* Edit your NaNo novel! You've got a rough draft. Now's the time to polish it! Make a schedule for yourself. Create goals and deadlines. It worked with NaNo, right? Why not try it with the rewrite/edit?

*Bullet* Reviewing! What better way to give this season than to send a helpful review?

*Bullet* Enter! Find some fun contests & activities and start writing! Get involved and have fun! It'll be worth it! *Smile*

*Bullet* Promote! Know of a good contest or activity that could use some extra exposure? Help promote it! If you have some extra gps, try sponsoring it ("The Writing.Com BidClick System" ), or do simple things like sending a public review, adding a link to your signature block, or submitting it to a Newsletter. *Wink*

*Bullet* c-Notes! They're a great way to say hello, send holiday wishes, or just let members know they're in your thoughts.


This time of year is all about giving and sharing. Two ways to get involved with the Writing.Com community would be to host a contest/activity or to get involved with one whether it's entering, judging or sponsoring. Get involved for the experience of being involved! *Smile*
