 Over the past few issues, we have been discussing the most romantic movies of all time. We began with 80 movies, but after 3 surveys we have 8 movies left! It certainly has been entertaining for me to see everyone torn between their choices. Here are some of your comments about the movies themselves and why you decided to vote for the movies you did.  "Which of the movie choices was hardest for you?Can you elaborate on why you chose what you did?"  mood indigo  : question #1 was the hardest to answer, because while "Gone With the Wind" is the quintessential epic love story, cinematically, "Titanic" was better--more modern, at least. I picked "Gone With the Wind" because of the classic element, and because Clark Gable and Vivien Leigh were much better actors than Leo and Kate. Brigid  : Between Ever After and the Sound of Music, both were such great love stories. I picked Ever After, simply because liked the movie more. violet princess */ : I thought the hardest one was The Notebook/Beauty and the Beast, because both focus on not physical attraction, necessarily, but a love from within that is powerful enough to overcome obstacles. While I give B&B a lot of credit for accomplishing this in an animated children's movie, I had to go with The Notebook because I have read the original novel, and what really struck me was that the male character was not afraid to express his feelings for her. average everyday sane psycho : #6 [Beauty & Beast vs. Notebook] was tough - loved both movies...but the way you worded the question made me go for hanging onto first love over saving daddy. spazmom : Actually, these choices weren't as hard as the last round. Although, since I haven't seen The Notebook, I figure it's got to be more romantic than the animated feature. hdelphyne : The hardest choice for me was choosing between the classic 'Gone with the Wind' and the newer 'Titanic'. I finally chose 'Titanic' because of the more positive ending (a woman who has known the fullness of life despite difficulties), the surprise ending and the consistency in the strength of Rose. Puditat : Titanic and Gone with the Wind was a tough one to choose between. I chose Gone with the Wind, simply because it is a timeless classic, and that the period and costume of the era is definitively romantic, supporting the overall emotional result. But it's a toughy, I'm still wavering. Angela's Niece needs Praye : Great going on these surveys you made me think and remember all the things that were going on when I saw each and every one of these movies and I had a lot of fond memories to fall back on in this. Stiggles : City of Angels is my favorite over Dirty Dancing. I just think it would be creepy for a guy that I couldn't see half the time to follow me around and watch me while I shower or scratch my butt and me not know it, LOL. angelique54 : The kissing scene. Ghost had the tenderness of true love, but Lady and the Tramp was true love finally realized and yet filled with innocence. Isiliel : My hardest choice was between Ghost and Lady and the Tramp. The latter marked my childhood and Ghost marked my adolescence. I couldn't decide which one was the strongest. Oh well... etoilenoire2191 : Never Been Kissed or Sleepless in Seattle- both are REALLY good movies, but I had to go with Never Been Kissed just because of the suspenseat the end. megsie2584 : Ever After and The Sound of Music are both fantastic... so it was hard to choose between them. I ultimately chose Ever After because it's a movie I watch more often. crissy : My hardest choice? Gone With the Wind and Titanic. Both are excellent! I could watch those 2 movies every other day for month and not get tired of them (ok, maybe I'm exaggerating a tiny little bit) Angie : The hardest choice for me was between Dirty Dancing and City of Angels. I chose City of Angels because of the scene where the one angel asks Nicholas Cage if "falling" was worth it and he says, "for one kiss of her mouth, breath of her hair, touch of her hand..." How beautiful! It always gets me teary! morelin : The Notebook and Beauty & The Beast. Both were terribly romantic. The Notebook starts out very slow, but when it gets going... Man!it goes! I cried so bad it was sooo romantic. Walkinbird 3 Jan 1892 : #3 was hardest; It depends on whether you are making the choice based on the scenario alone or actually putting yourself in the actors'/characters' shoes. Hmmm...Tom Hanks, Richard Gere...(or for the guys...Meg Ryan, Julia Roberts? John~Ashen : I have to give the slightest edge to Ghost over Lady & the Tramp because of the modeling clay scene. Both kissing scenes were great, but seeing Swayze cradle muddy Demi was golden. Stephanie Grace : City of Angels/Dirty Dancing. Dirty Dancing only won my vote since it's been around longer and I've loved it for so many years as opposed to City of Angels only coming out a few years ago.  RelenaSeale : City of Angels v. Dirty Dancing was hard. They are very different films with very different feels. drpolm : The hardest one for me to do was Question number five. I love both of those scenes, though I think that the spaghetti one was a little more my style, totally surprised. Equilibrium : Number two is the hardest for me. Those are two of my favorite romance movies. I chose The Sound of Music because it had been my favorite long before I first watched Ever After, so I give it more favor. super sleuth : The hardest choice was #4 I saw the Princess Bride and didn't think the acting was all that great. It had lots of action and moved along well but, I guess it was Ok.I don't think I've seen as good as it gets so it was hard to choose. I chose the one I didn't see. It had to be better.Below are the resluts from the Romance Movie Showdown #3. Take a look at which movies were eliminated and which movies survived the cut. I must say that I was really surprised to see the results of this particular survey, and in shock to see that one of my favorite romance movies eliminated. There were a few of them where I wasn't sure which one I liked best so I just picked one for some lame, silly reason or another. Lexi : I think that there are many humorous romance movies, some of which were in the survey in the beginning. Now that we are eliminating movies through votes, I find it quite interesting that many of the movies left are ones that have made me cry.
