About This Newsletter

If you're anything like me, you write poetry to calm and soothe your soul. Whether to ease your pain, anxiety, or to express jubilation and love, it's a release. A homecoming. A truce with your inner being. It's your soul having its say. My soul always urges me to nature so I connect and be "in spirit." It's God's gift to us. Our gift in return is our words.

Letter from the editor

Since my last edition, I once again packed my bags and hit the road. I'm now living in the pacific northwest near Tacoma, WA. It's beautiful here--truly inspirational, lots of green and water (mostly in the form of rain) and trees.


TREES

THINK that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.

A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Against the earth's sweet flowing breast;

A tree that looks at God all day,
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;

A tree that may in Summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;

Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.

Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree.



This particular day started off well. Happy. No stress... but as the hours wore on, I was triggered by a series of insignificant incidences to seriously doubt my self, my existence, my self worth. I was on the brink of tears. I just wanted to fold up and surrender to the gods... to disappear into the cosmos, to shrink into the nobody my head was telling me I was. I could go on whining, but you get the picture.

I had previously decided "inspiration" was to be the topic for this newsletter, but I up till today my vision was on how the glories of earth and heaven and all the natural beauty around us can inspire us to paint with words our most intimate feelings of love and joy. How we are exactly where we are supposed to be. How "stuff" happens to help our souls to grow and evolve into a higher consciousness.

So stuff happened, and just to prove the point of my prior intent, I forced myself to step outside. (Trust me, I wasn't thinking about the newsletter at the time.) The air was brisk and fresh and clean. I took a deep breath and looked up at the clouds dramatically billowing overhead in umpteen shades of gray. Wow! I steered toward the giant pines and cedars congregating at the end of the road. They are awesome and they smell so good! I soon forgot my feelings of worthlessness and I even stopped to pick daisies to brighten my darling daughter's day. By the time I got home, I was cured!

Luckily for you I didn't write a poem to uplift and inspire, instead I give you this newsletter.

I hereby encourage you to look around you and connect with nature, only if it's a potted plant on you desk. Next, count your blessings. Sing them. Love them. Write them down... daily. Make it a practice to list ten things you adore and appreciate be it your lover, your children, trees, your favorite coffee cup, coffee, whatever. Get creative and write your words in little poems. It's fun and it's guaranteed to lift your spirits.

Grab your journals and take a walk on the wild side, people, you'll love yourself for it.
