5 Things Every Newbie Should Know

When joining this wonderful site, there are so many things to explore. In this little guide, I'll give you the five things I wish someone had shown to me right away when I wandered into this amazing place. (Granted, some didn't exist then!)

1. "Writing.Com 101 [E]
This particular item is the best reference to this website since sliced bread, if sliced bread actually pertained to a website. (I imagine there is one that it does. I'm not looking for it right now.) If there is anything you need to know how to do, this item will have detailed instructions on how to do it. It is awesome.

2. http://www.writing.com/main/my_feedback/action/rrs
This link leads to the reviewing page. You can also find this link on the left sidebar just beneath several picture icons with the name "Reviews". This is the place you can see what others have to say about the writings of those they read. It is a wonderful place to see some of the interaction between the members of the site.

3. "Noticing Newbies [13+]
This is the forum built specifically for you! You can say hello, ask questions, ask for a writing buddy, or just introduce yourself and see if you can find any friends. The conversations are warm and friendly, and it is a great way to meet new people.

4. "Technical Support Forum [13+]
Have a technical problem with the site? This is the place to ask any question you might have dealing with the technical difficulties, and get a quick reply from those who can truly help you out.

5. "Non-Technical Support Forum [13+]
Do you have questions that are not of a technical nature? This is the perfect place to put those sorts of questions and get a prompt reply from those who are willing and able to help out.

These are all some great ways to become acquainted with this website and the way things work. You can find help and support, or for those who like to muddle through, detailed explanations of how things work and how to accomplish things.

Ask & Answer

I received this feedback in response to "Noticing Newbies Newsletter (January 1, 2013)

k-9cooper wrote, "Great news letter love the advice. I will go with it."

Awesome! I'd love to hear how that goes.

Quick-Quill said, "I don't personally make resolutions as I don't have the guts to stick to them, if I did I would have a perfect body. If you want something bad enough you will do what it takes to get to get it. Jan 1 or June 29th. Where your heart is that is what you will go after with all you have. Go for it!"

Agreed! If you want it badly enough, you'll do whatever it takes to get there.

Zheila said, "Hi Sara;

What a beautiful advise. There are time that as a beginner I just want to put my pencil and pad and leave the writing world. But giving up is not a solution. Your newsletter gives hope to people like me that if we all work hard, one day our dream as a writer shall come true.

Sincerely,

Zheila"

It truly can, honestly. Don't give up - if you love it, keep doing it.
