*Balloon3* Don't Be Shy!!! *Balloon3*

Don't be afraid of getting your feet wet! While writing is probably the main reason you have become a member here, getting involved in the community can also help strengthen your skills. There are so many cool people at Writing.com, it's unbelievable. Oh, yes, and a few not-so-cool, but pay little attention to them. *Bigsmile* The main thing is, become comfortable with the site by asking questions, joining groups, visiting forums, taking part in contests, and when you really feel comfortable, create your own forum! You may feel a little awkward at first, but this place is truly a blast!

If you are having a hard time finding what you are looking for, be sure to use the Search option offered on any of WC's pages. Use it like you would any search engine: Type in what you are looking for. If you prefer to search in a specific genre, choose the one you want, otherwise, leave it at Any Type. As an example, say you are interested in Halloween items. You only need to type in Halloween and it will take you to 20 pages of related items such as contest prompts, poetry, C-notes, short stories, images, etc.! Cool, eh? Try it just to experiment.

And remember --> Don't be shy!!!

Love,
Cubby ")

Excerpt: As I stepped onto the grounds of death, heavy gunfire fell silent. The only noise left was heavy footsteps pounding against burnt plains. Smoke rose everywhere, blinding my comrades that followed behind me. I carefully walked around the dead soldiers, guns still tightly gripped in there hands.

Excerpt: The ancient prophecy told of a child born to poor laborers who would change the world and its peoples forever. The divination foretold of the paths that must be taken by the chosen to find his place in the world. The Flame knew how to find the chosen at the inception of his birth because it could feel his power and took appropriate steps to ensure the safety of the child. In secret, The Flame sent an emissary on its behalf to look after the child. Trikon was that emissary, planted in the druids mind to make them think she had been there all along when in truth, she had only just arrived.

Excerpt: Gazing around his room, Jason Strout looked as if he was attempting to solve a particularly difficult math question in his head. As he approached his bed aiming to sit down for a minute as he did every morning, he suddenly spoke out. "It's the sixteenth! We leave today!" Making a noise that sounded like a steam engine pulling away from the station, he flew down the stairs and into the kitchen where he found his mother, cooking breakfast as she always did.

Excerpt: The old man led Luke upstairs and showed him to the first room on the right after gaining the landing. He said, "This will be your room Luke," and gestured for the boy to enter ahead of him. After setting down the boy's things he sat him down on the bed and pulled up the room's chair, the only other furnishing aside from a small dresser, sat down and said, "Now Luke, there are three simple rules in this house. First, you clean up any mess you make. Second, my room is off limits. Third, if I tell you to do something, you will comply immediately and without question. Is that understood?"

Kankei: Gray Skies, Chapter 1  [13+]
The first entry in Gray Skies.
by a writer reborn

Excerpt: My younger brother and I own and operate a resturaunt. An authentic Japanese resturaunt, reflecting our heritage. It did well and business had been running smoothly for about six years. A local businessman of sorts gave us the proposition to franchise it as the backer. To finalize the business dealings and sign the necessary paperwork, we agreed to meet at a local coffee shop. My brother Sung and I showed up at the shop on the planned day and time, but 'Mr. Douglas' didn't show.

Great newsletter, as usual!
Besides writing, I enjoy spending time with my kids and making them laugh!!
Always, Tammy

That's wonderful that you enjoy your children! There's nothing like the sound of little ones laughing. *Heart*

This newsletter is always a pleasure to read because of the time you put in making it "boot-i-full" for us. Thanks.

*Bigsmile* Feedback such as yours makes it all worth it! Thank you so much!

Ah Cubby! Excellent newsletter as usual. What do I like to do besides write? I love to read and now I am trying to learn digital photography. I also love to eat! *Smile*

Thanks, Schip! Digital photography? Wow, do you actually read all the instructions or do you just play around with it? I'm awful when it comes to instructions! Impatient, I suppose. But good for you!!! I bet it's fun. Oh... and I like to read and eat, too, lol! But not usually together. I do my reading in bed, and my eating anywhere else. Thanks for sharing! *Bigsmile*

*Star* Being Diane
I work at a spa. We have every shape and size. Every age and occupation. We are so much of a family. It's just like stepping back in time. Inspriration it's hard to put into words but I'll give you an example. I teach Water Aerobics year round. This year we pulled the tent off a little early. It was kind of chilly in the pool, a light breeze was blowing and I thought no one would show. Then came my little 81 years of youth, with her little camp on, her water bottle, and a little towel to help with the sweat we began. Then it started sprinkling a little rain. She turned to me and said, "Diane, isn't this just the most fun?"
I replied, "Miss Julia, I don't think life can get any better than this. Just a little rain and a bit of sun."
We were in what we call in the south "Hog Heaven."
We continued the class in the sunny rain looking for rainbows for 30 for minutes. How many of you have been that inspired?

That wonderful little story just reminded me of when I went to a three day library conference in April/May. It was in the 50s here in Michigan and the conference happened to fall on our 25th wedding anniversary. We went a day earlier to celebrate. There was a heated outdoor pool and spa and not one person was in it. Hubby and I decided to go for it. Oh, my, was it ever lovely! The water was so warm and we could still see snow on the ski slopes. Needless to say, we used the pool/spa four times within two days! Thank you so much for sharing your special day!

Reading! I spend hours doing it!

Good question Cubby! I'll have to see if I can answer it. I know the answer will NOT be planning a wedding!

*Laugh* I completely agree!
