Excerpt: Ever sense the day I was born I saw them. The numbers. They appeared on everyone's chest. Some were small some were big. They appeared in a dark purple mist. It took me awhile to figure out what they were, but now, now I know. And I wish I were never given this strange power.

And sing your unearthly song,
Let it play for all to hear
Until night fades to dawn
Let your presence be known
But be not caught nor seen
As a pentagram burns in your eyes
And victims are set free
Vashti McCombes stared down at the near empty paper, chewing her lip. Was it giving away too much? It’s just a poem, for moons sake! They wouldn’t think it means anything… would they?
Excerpt: The faint sound of footsteps echoed through the trees. Despite the mist that blanketed the forest path a lone figure ran on. The moonglow shone on her wings, paler then the whitest rose, her eyes like mercury stunning even in their lucid fear. Hearing the resonating voice behind her, she quickened her pace failing to head the warning her raged breath was giving. Hoping to lose her tracker in the depths of the wood, she erased the image of her wings feeling the instant strain on her strength.
Excerpt: This is what really happened in Fairborn on that dreadful day, and in the weeks that followed. This is not the version you'll find in the police report, or what you'll read in the papers. No, this is what really happened.
The truth will no longer be hidden and ignored.
Excerpt: I was placed in an orphanage. They kicked me out when my magic began to manifest itself. It must have been hard to control a five year old who can cast basic illusionary magic without any training. I was put in the care of a kindly blood elf named Orohalya. He was very old, must have been at least 800.

My biggest challenge with writing is inspiration timing. Sometimes, no matter what, I just can't formulate the ideas to write. Other times, all the ideas come so fast I can't get them all down!
I know exactly what you are talking about! Until recently, I've had a very long dry spell with my writing. Now the words are just pouring out of me. I wonder if it's a hormonal thing or something.  If there's anyone out there that has a theory, let us know! Until they, I suppose it's just good ol' Writer's Block.

Lovely newsletter, Cubby.
My biggest challenge is finishing what I have written. I think I will try the NaNo this year!
We have something in common then. I was SO mad at my hubby the other day because--> I had finally started writing again and was typing my story on the computer when he says, "What are you doing?" (he hadn't heard me type like that in months) So I said, "I'm writing that fiddle story I told you about the other day." And to his 'unfortunate rest of the day', he said, "What for? You never finish anything you write anyway." Need I say more?

My bigggest challenge to writing? Time. Always time. In most cases, I never have enough. Occasionally, too much time is much more daunting. How do you start when you have an entire day free to write?
A whole day to write??? Oh, my! Whatever would that be like, lol?!?! Actually, I do know what you are saying. I use to have my summers off when I worked for the school system, and I do remember trying to think up something to write about. It's just not fair! Time is hard to come by for many of us and we have to squeeze in what we can here and there. Too bad there wasn't 32 hours in a day. It'd work out much better, don't you think?

Not sure if I'm still a newbie, think so, but anyhow. My biggest challange is time frame. I have such a hard time figuring out how sequences and scene happen in relation to one another.
Something I learned a while back is to buy some index cards and write your different scenes, options, whatever works, and either lay them out or tack them to a bulletin board. Then you can place them in a variety of sequences and go from there.

Lovely newsletter, Cubby. I felt welcomed and encouraged by your editorial, so I can fully imagine how a newbie feels after reading it. Well done.
The hardest part of my writing - I'd say the plot. I have historically let my stories write themselves, but it is becoming clear that tact is full of pitfalls and half-baked results. My latest novel, fully plotted, shows just how better it is to think about where a story is going. Oh...what I have learned the hard way.
I have yet to learn that! Good for you, though! Sometimes the hard way is the best way in the long run. I learn everything that way... Always have and always will, I'm afraid!
