Letter from the editor

If there's anything most readers hate, it's a cliffhanger to a long story. The good thing about it - there will be a continuation... Eventually. *Wink*

As for me, I can't concentrate long enough to make a story go on for hours. There's a certain point where I just don't want to figure out where the story goes. The start can be great, lure the reader in and have them on their toes, but then, I find cut off point where I can say "That's good enough for now" and leave it at that.

Do I consider the feelings of my readers? Yes. I think it's a torture for them to get hooked on a story which ends on a cliffhanger. Almost all of my stories end like that. I also think that my readers might dislike me for it, but it gives me room to play with different ideas, instead of go in a direction I may or may not like later on. It also saves me from having a headache of deleting a lot of nonsense because I didn't think things through in the first place.

Since I'm a very sarcastic person, this type of writing suits me. I enjoy it. However, if you really consider things, it's more of an excuse and a way of getting out of writing the whole thing out. Call it what you like, it's not the greatest thing, but it may have something to do with the fact that I get stressed out when writing for longer than an hour or so.

How does your own writing affect you? Do you do something similar or have you found ways of pulling through and getting things done without too much worry? I'd love to find out, whichever way you go, what you do. If you enjoy writing cliffhangers, do you consider your reader's feelings at all? Does it even matter to you? Or, are you in fact, waiting to hear their plea for more in order to continue a particular story?
