Letter from the editor

When writing horror we create characters. Some of these are good characters and are usually our protagonists and others are bad or some variation of evil and often play the villain. Of course these character types can be switched; we can be on the side of the protagonist who is the bad guy and be rooting for his plan to thwart the good guys and we can also have what's called the anti-hero which is a heavily flawed protagonist whom you can't help but like. The anti-hero will also lack conventional qualities normally seen as heroic such as courage and morals.

Are there are any other types of character? Of course there are. These are the black and white and there is so much grey in between it only depends on your imagination.

The sort of character that I've been thinking about it perhaps one that masquerades as a good guy when essentially they are not. They could be a hidden agenda, one that is portrayed through manipulation or perhaps even all out dissociative identity disorder during which a person can have multiple personalities/voices in their mind. How would a character like this play out?

I've been giving this some thought and I think it would depend a lot on situation and the context, perhaps even who this person is with at the time. They could perhaps:

*Bulletv* be nice/good to some people and awful to others.
*Bulletv* be manipulative in the way they treat people to get what they want.
*Bulletv* be very secretive/private.
*Bulletv* have quick or slow switches between good and bad parts of themselves.
*Bulletv* have a completely different personality set for each side of themselves.

I suppose a visual that might be good to use would be two face from Batman. Human but disfigured after an accident, one side of him appears normal while the other does not. Jekyll and Hyde could be another.
