Hi everyone! I hope that the start of the year has been a good one for you.
This month I've decided to share a bit about my personal faith. I hope you will enjoy it.

I've been asked by several people about my religion. Am I a Christian? So as a Newsletter Editor for this Newsletter I thought that this time I would explain about my faith. I think it is relevant. I also think it will let you, the reader, know what to expect from me.
I guess that if I needed to give an answer then, yes, I suppose I could say I am a Christian. I believe in God and I believe in Jesus and His sacrifice for all of us. I pray. However, I do not attend a church. My relationship with God is a personal one.
When I was a kid my gran's sister kept telling me I was a bad person. I asked too many questions. I was full of questions when I was a child – such as “Where does God come from?” and I was not satisfied with the answer that God just is, that He doesn't come from anywhere. In my opinion everyone and everything came from somewhere and it was a perfectly normal question.
I went to a Christian primary school which, however, had children attending from many faiths and I was intrigued and encouraged to be open to all those different beliefs. My interest in different faiths holds to this day as does the one lesson about God that I hold dear, that I firmly believe in, that God is love. God teaches us to love others and treat others with kindness and respect.
History teaches us a different lesson. So many wars were fought in the name of religion, not to mention innocent women (and men) being persecuted for being a witch. And the scary thing is that everyone thought they were acting in the name of God. Where is the love in that?
I see so many people from different faiths almost being scared of God, preaching doom and gloom and all the bad things that can happen to us if we do this or don't do that. I refuse to live my life in fear. Actually, I've had enough fear in my life already without adding to it.
Nor do I think one faith is right and the rest is all wrong. Really, who are we to know?
I see people judging others on behalf of their faith. And I still see people being persecuted because of something in the Bible. Personally, I think so many parts of the Bible can be explained in so many ways that I don't know what is the correct interpretation. The Bible confuses me.
All the negatives aside – and please, people reading this, these are just my experiences and no, I am not judging any faith. Please do not take offense as it is not intended as such. I've also met truly inspiring people who radiate love and kindness and just glow with their faith. One of them a lady from the Salvation Army, one Muslim lady, one a Catholic lady...
When I was a teenager, again I was told I was a bad person for liking my rock music, having a love for fantasy novels and for my daydreaming about elves and dragons, faeries and unicorns. I was told all these things were of the Devil and I should not associate myself with them.
I think God is really more loving and understanding than that. Musical preference, a love for books and having a rich imagination does not make someone a bad person. I try to live my life the best way I know. I treat others with respect, I don't cheat, I don't steal and I try to be helpful. I also mess up lots of times. And still, I know God loves me.
I'm friends with amazing people from all kinds of faiths; Catholic, Baptist, Islam, Wiccan, Mormon, to name a few. I'm friends with amazing people who do not have a specific faith and those who are uncertain if God exists. And, really, we are all the same. No matter what faith or lack thereof, we seek the same things in life. We all need love and kindness and security, we all laugh and cry, have hopes and dreams and just would like to be happy.
I'm still a person who probably asks strange questions and I will probably never know all the answers. I still love my rock music, my fantasy novels and I daydream. But I don't worry about it. It's okay to be me.
I guess I am a Christian but I don't tend to define myself. I'm still learning and I guess I always will. So bear with me, please. You may find yourself not always agreeing with my views and I may approach many different topics as I learn and grow spiritually.
I hope you will read my Newsletters with an open mind and I welcome any views and suggestions you might have. I think it will be an enjoyable journey  .

essence of thought  - "Knowing ourselves is the key for our success" It is great to admit about our faults, we can then correct them. But the truth is that this greed or envy or any name you call it is not limited by you, its for all. It is human nature, I read it and thought that we all are selfish sometimes or at many times. But we can balance this by giving, any giving: a good word or a smile can do a lot..

thatBobguy - I applaud you for your desire to be more giving and generous to others. I try that from time to time myself. Yet, one of your sentences rings with truth and warning- giving back because you receive so much. The key is to give, yet be aware when someone is not balancing the giving themselves. It is a tricky balance between enabling a manipulator to continue sliding and balancing a relationship. Good luck on keeping the flow and the balance.
