About This Newsletter

*Delight**Heart* Hail friends! I am popping in as a guest editor for this edition of Noticing Newbies! What a privilege to share with you! I have been here 7 years and the place just keeps on growing and changing in scope. The heart of the matter remains constant.

My mind went wondering and so this sharing will be a bit of this and that, and if you are not a brand new member, you may already be familiar with these tips! So skim and get to review those lovely newbie items. *Wink*

Some reflections to ponder:

"Writing is an exploration. You start from nothing and learn as you go." ~ E. L. Doctorow

"You might not write well everyday, but you can always edit a bad page. You can't edit a blank page!" ~Jodi Picoult

"Start writing no matter what. The water does not flow until the faucet is turned on." ~Louis L'Amour

"Do it for joy and you can do it forever." ~ Stephen King

What do you think? *Lightning2*

Letter from the editor

*Delight* Welcome in New WDC Authors! I was visiting "Noticing Newbies where you can say hi and share. Make sure you put it on your favourites by clicking the plus sign on the right hand side top of the page. There are cool links posted there to refer back to. I have a number of vital resource items of my favs so I can find them easily. You can do the same with favourite authors or new friends here. I would like to share a few other tips.

*Burstr* Read and discover the vast WDC! ASK questions and don't be overwhelmed (some of you might *Wink*).
I have been here 7 years and still learning all the tricks here..especially as the site is always evolving and keeping up with the times. Writing and Reviewing are our main focus, along with lots of cool contests and community events.
Everything is a choice.

*Burstg* Do a little bio block on the front of your port. I always like to check it out first when I see a newcomer, just to get a sense of who they are or what experience they have. It helps a lot when I review too. *Smile*

*Burstv* Reviewing is a great way to build a presence , earn gift points and have the potential of getting reviewed back! It builds your skills as well and you can learn alot and have fun reading fellow authors. Yes, you may notice you receive GPS when you review with over 250 letters. *Shock* A little thank you and incentive from WDC. You can earn a few more in review groups as well. You can save gps for membership or gifting others. *Heart* We love to review here not for the kudos, yet it is a lovely bonus! *Smile*

*Quill* Feel free to review anyone...no matter what colour case they have: blue, black, purple. At heart we are all writers of various experiences and all love to get feed back. Blue and purple case authors just have added roles of helping WDC operations in a number of ways. We are all in this together. *Heart*

The "Read and Review" link on the side bar is a great place to begin and you can also "BROWSE by Genre or Type"! *Wink* Something for everyone.

Forums like "The Shameless "Plug" Page, "Review Me List for WDC Power -ON HIATUS are places to post your work for reviews and find things to review as well. Just be patient. *Smile*

*Bursto* Joining a group is fun too and a way to meet people in general or of like mind or writing genre.
Check under "Browse by Type" and you will find plenty to choose from.
Groups often have glyphs or signature pictures for you to use as a member. If you join a reviewing group for example you would use the group link or signature pictures on your reviews. I see it as a uniform. LOL

*Burstb*Helpful tabs on the left sidebar, for me anyway, are "Community" and "Writing.Com Tools"! I especially like the tools for quick reference to techy things like ML, linking etc! *Computer* Under Community you can find out about Newsletters and how to subscribe or just find ones to read on the genres available! *Thumbsup*

*Burstbr* Did you know there are some cool interactives, maybe for times when you can't find something to write about. Jump in and help an interactive story move along! *Laugh* Just dig around for your style of story. Also there are short little in and outs that can spark a word or two like "Three Word Mayhem!. *Shock* Check under "Browse By Type" for interactives, in and outs, puzzles etc! Sometimes you just need to chillax! LOL

*Bursty*"Writing.Com 101 has just about everything you need to make your way around this space! Many authors have created articles and helpful bits for newbies as well. For example, "Invalid Item! Have fun exploring. *Boat2*
It just takes some time, discovery and patience. *Wink*

*Fairy2* Meantime, get writing and reviewing. Get into contests for the fun, exposure and feedback! We all create the wonder here...with our contributions and participation. I wonder and look forward to what yours will be. *Tophat*

Thanks for reading! Go play. *Laugh*
