"A writer writes not because he is educated but because
he is driven by the need to communicate.
Behind the need to communicate is the need to share.
Behind the need to share is the need to be understood.
The writer wants to be understood much more
than he wants to be respected or praised or even loved.
And that perhaps, is what makes him different from others."

Letter from the editor

Hi, my name is Wind in my Wings, and I'm a blog junkie.

I admit it, I'm hooked. It happened so fast... one day I peeked into a blog, and then another, and then another, and then – BAM – addiction city. Now I eat, sleep, dream, and crave the darn things… I can't get enough! Ok, so I over dramatize. But in all seriousness, blogs, globs, journals, or whatever you care to call them, can be addicting. It's bad enough that this site is addicting; now I have my own blog and a list of favorites that must be written in or visited each and every day. I'm trying very hard not to add new ones to my list, because I simply don't have the time. As it is, this is the first thing I do every morning, the first thing I do when I get home from work, and I always check back before going to bed. It borders on ridiculous obsession.

But! This whole blogging biz is the miracle that brought back my long lost voice. For the first time in months I'm actually writing on a daily basis. That alone would be reason enough to continue, yet it's more than that. I've found a community within a community where support, camaraderie, laughter, respect, compassion and strength abound. Free for the taking. In today's world, this is a very rare commodity. I interact with wonderfully talented people from all walks of life, covering most every possible social and economic status, and from several continents. I've come to care deeply for these people and share in their joys and sorrows. Though we've never met in the flesh, I've found a group of special people that I call friends. How much more spiritual can that be?

it makes it a requirement for survival."

Conversely, not too long ago a journal entry on the subject of Intelligent Design came to my attention. It was the writer's opinion that those who believe in such "nonsensical" ideas as Intelligent Design (most of them American) have been literally "hoodwinked" into believing in something that can't be proven through stringent, controlled, scientific testing. My first reaction to this was a feeling of much offense. No one likes to be thought a fool, much less blatantly called one. What ensued was a debate of sorts - some public, some private - with neither party backing down from their way of thinking. Sadly, the final result was a mutually accepted parting of the ways. Ahhh, such is the spiritual journey.

"Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools."
Romans 1:22 - NIV

I do happen to believe in Intelligent Design, or more simply put, that the entirety of the universe was created, and that we did not simply come to be by the process known as evolution. No, I can't prove it, but nor has anyone been able to prove otherwise. What I believe is what I can feel, and not with my fingers or hands, but with my heart. I don't demand proof in the way of facts and figures. I just know. My mistake was trying to convince another of something they do not feel, or want to feel, and perhaps something they’re incapable of feeling.

It whispers, so listen closely."
The Land Before Time

And while I strongly uphold the right of any writer, blogger or otherwise, to freely express their opinions, one must also realize that if you put it out there for the general public to see, you must be able to weather any backlash that comes your way. In essence, if you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen. Maybe it’s time I steer clear of the kitchen, and keep my opinions to myself. Nah! It’s just not in my nature.

*Heart* Until next time, let your heart be your guide! *Heart*

Awesome newsletter every time, Wind In My Wings. I particularly enjoyed this one, because it seems sometimes that not everybody has questions about 'Have I failed? Have I succeeded? Have I done what I set out to do?'.

But I think that the Lord has definitely used you to better many of our days with these articles! I've really enjoyed this newsletter, and thank you so much for sharing with us your views. I know that I, at least, appreciate them greatly.
God bless!

Thank you so much for the kind encouragement! This encouragement makes it a little easier to come back every month!!

Our purpose, as I see it is to plant a seed and let the greater source of wisdom take it from there. Our teaching cannot change someone else: that change can only come from within. The seeds we plant can only bring growth if it is nurtured by the spirit. Agonizing over the seeds we plant can bring discomfort to our self.
Relax! You have done well.

Thank you Chanon! *Blush*

Excellent Newsletter Winda.

I too have grown spiritually in these past months, letting the Holy Spirit lead my way.
I found in my life that obstacles do cross my path every day, but holding on to faith, and being objective in my decisions, have brought we far closer to the Lord than making my own decisions without his help.

The Spiritual Newsletter has been a stronghold for me and I hope that it will continue to inspire me along my walk with the Lord.

May God continue to bless us in our efforts to learn more about him.

Ronnie

I'd like to submit my personal essay "Wake up! It's Tuesday" for your review and possible inclusion in one of your issues. It deals with traumatic experiences and spiritual awakening set against the backdrop of vacationing in Sri Lanka.

Experiencing the Antiquity of Faith  (E)
Living in the USA has changed how I view cathedrals I have long known.
#1061070 by hobnobkitkat

Submitted Comment:
Living in the US for a while has given me a new appreciation of the antiquity of buildings etc. in the UK - something I always used to take for granted. This is particularly true of cathedrals where the stone has been worn away just by feet and you can look at an unbroken line of abbots, then bishops dating back to the 7th century. The poem reflects on that - the two cathedrals I am especially thinking of are Gloucester and Hereford.
