About This Newsletter

Hello, everyone. I am ~ Santa Sisco ~ . I'm your guest editor of this Noticing Newbies newsletter.

I aim to ensure you have a smooth transition into the site. I still remember my first day here. "Bitem?" Do I have to be a computer programmer to put my writing on here? *Laugh* Forty-eight hours later, I realized it was a case of easy when you know how!. My biggest mistake when I joined was that I didn't take the time to read the "Writing.Com 101. I was excited and wanted to do everything on the same day. Sound familiar? *Smile*

Letter from the editor

I advise all newbies to read the WDC user guide by The StoryMistress first. "Writing.Com 101

The following list is not comprehensive but does cover all the main places I have used for help and guidance for WDC and writing.

1. The first place I look for help is the "Writing.Com 101 as just about everything you need to know about using this site is covered there.

2. There are two forums specifically for getting assistance when you have a problem or need help.

The "Technical Support Forum is where you go to get help with any of the technical areas of using the site or computer related issues. You will get an answer from someone knowledgeable in the area you have asked a question about.

The "Non-Technical Support Forum is for anything else that's not a technical issue, or for writing-related issues.

3. One place that often gets overlooked is the "Writing.Com General Discussion. This forum is for general discussion and questions about the site or writing.

4. The site also has groups dedicated to helping newbies, and sometimes oldies, to find your way around and to help with any questions you may have.
I run "Invalid Item, and we welcome anyone who needs help with anything site or writing-related.
There are several other groups you can join to get help. "The Angel Outreach Program and "The WDC Angel Army to name two others I am aware of.

5. If you want to connect with other members, asking for help is a good ice-breaker. Some people prefer one-to-one assistance, so why not ask a Moderator (Blue Cases) if you need help? We all started on here exactly as you have. I became a Moderator six years ago (Yesterday), and I have been approached many times for help. Actually, it was because of so many requests for help that I decided to form "Invalid Item.

Our Preferred Authors (Yellow cases) are primarily chosen because of their positive interaction with other members and being active within the community. Don’t be afraid to email any member to ask for help; that is how I made my first friends on here. *Bigsmile*

6. If you are looking for help to enter contests, there are two places to look: "Writing Contests @ Writing.Com is where contest owners post details of their current contests; the official WDC contests for paid members are also displayed in this forum. If you can't find a contest you like, check out the comprehensive list of all contests on WDC at "Contest Central Station (Thank you, Jim Hall )

Help will always be given to those who ask. *Bigsmile*
