This is a poem I wrote during a difficult time in my life.
The downy white birds fly around the crystal blue heaven
As I dance among the flowers,
Innocence and wonderful kindness.
Forever thinking,
Bliss is mine, Bliss is mine.
Not once do I stop the sweet dancing
To ponder the sharp fall ahead
Nor the greedy beasts of misery,
Salivating as they contemplate my impending demise.
Closer and closer I creep to the edge…
The crystal blue heaven
Changing its form with every step
A choking steaming fog of hate and lust
Slowly cloud the changing sky
Truth becomes a lie,
Light becomes the dark.
The flowers of innocence are ripped from the ground.
I fall onto the hard dry earth
Losing sight of the last bit of light.
At first I think a lie,
I envision what illusions my mind desires.
I see light where there is none
I see hope where there should be acceptance of what is to come.
I slowly breathe in dirt filled with harsh truths…
I stand, I fall, I stand, I fall…
I beg and cry,
When I should look back and smile.
I resist what could be fate always fighting,
Am I fighting fate or myself?
I stand, I fall, I stand, I fall….
The pain surges through my soul
Gradually ripping and tearing at all that is there.
Yet, The light is not gone just dim.
The flowers will grow… the birds will fly,
I won’t see them, not yet…not soon.
I stand, I fall, I stand…
