What is the face of politics today? I'm asking.
i stare into
my microwave door
gone on the
newspaper mag president
twirling my hot cup of
coffee
he is looking out for
my best interest
exacting the way
gone on bad news
as it hits like holy water
flooding into the
scent of the public
in such deep, deep dark days
announcing the
ink of sadness
in men's minds
bringing our public
psyche into the open,
bruised though it might be
facing world politics.
He looks as though he
might be meditating,
crying out for the answer
sensing that the way of
the gun
is foreign Bagdad's comprise
may he rest our place in history
shaping our lives
with proud soldiers
with brave hearts
asking us for his freedom
to speak out
with Iraq being tested
again for it

it places our interests
amongst ourselves
having a safe haven
in the balance with questions
of balance
in the long run
