about self-esteem as well as jealousy over the simple life of a reflection
Girl in the Mirror

I wanna be friends with the girl in the mirror
with the cold look of detachment in her eyes,
her secret revealed only by a single tear
and I envy her two-dimensional world,
where no feelings are allowed.

I wanna be friends with the girl in the mirror
her lips slightly parted to let the sobs escape
and still empty eyes stare back
emotion can't pass through to her side
the pain is lost in translation

I wanna be friends with the girl in the mirror
one quivering hand reaches to meet my own
chipped black nailpolish contacts smooth, hard surface
and I can't feel her as she fights to be let out,
but I can hear her screams.

I wanna be friends with the girl in the mirror
body now thrashing in desperation
then suddenly the barrier shatters
and I see whats beyond my reflection
the beauty is contorted.
