This is a poem I wrote about a boy who is coming into the U.S. through Ellis Island.
Looking into the wind I face East,
the day I came to see this place,
followed by meets with luck and great fortune.

But first I must make it through this gate,
keeping some out and letting some in.
I am a boy ready to live a better life.

They call me up and inspect me,
I'm good to go in,
there's no way out now!

Remembering the immigrants that came to the U.S.A. to make it what it is today.

I wrote this after visiting Ellis Island, one of the major inspection points granting access for immigrants to the U.S.
