A memory of happiness, a future of hope.
I hear music
and it reminds me
of an old lover, and old dreams.

My life once felt as if it was teetering on the brink of everything.

I close my eyes.
My throat clenches.

I feel a winter night,
A warm face,
A lover smiling back at me.

Time passes.

Old lover, new lover.
Old passion, work.

Dreams of a burning world have chilled,
leaving only the embers of hope in my gut,
calling out for the past to come back and greet my future.
