not my favorite thing in the world
My body is shaking
my heart is racing
from what is to come -
the blood test.

I smell the alcohol wipes
and hear the squeak of the floor
under my feet as I walk through the door.
It's getting closer than ever before -
the blood test.

The lab tech comes in
and pulls up my sleeve.
It's now time to die
with blood pressure high.

The tourniquet is taught
and the slap comes next.
I can't sit still and I'm starting to slide out of my chair.

Did they find the vein yet?
I want to go home.
This is no fun and I'm going to blow chunks.

Then finally it happens.
The evil begins with
a small, tiny prick
they say NEVER hurts.

The needle now takes
my life away
for hours and hours.
I simply must say -
Thank God it's over!

The release of the demon
has changed how I think
for now it is time for a
GREAT BIG DRINK!
