Inspired by a young boy who gave the poem it's first line.
The leaves are having a party
Because they don’t have to work
For the trees any more.
They dance and they swirl.
Unafraid
To mingle with the wind
And make small talk with the rain.
They haven’t invited me,
They whisper.
But here I am
A wallflower
At an autumn ball
Wondering.
Will I get a swept away
To dance with the wind, the rain,
And the leaves,
Like they promised
When I was young?
