a poem about wishing
If I could have three wishes
To spend this very day
I’d ask for us to be together
For a bit longer in this way
I’d take hold of the fabric
On which time repeatedly weaves
Twist the thread around my finger
So the needle never leaves.
I want linger in this fantasy
The one in which we’re both here
For together we find happiness
Joy unbroken by fear.
Barriers fall between us
Coffins built, but still I know
That love crosses any boundary
For you, anywhere, I’d go.
Please come to me quietly
In the heaven that this seems
I’ll hold you until morning
When I must leave you in my dreams
