A wife needs a special valentines day.Story for a 500 word contest
VALENTINE’S TEARS

Dana couldn’t see much of anything through her tears. She knew that it could be dangerous to drive and cry at the same time so she found a small road and pulled her truck in there. She felt so overwhelmed and angry that she screamed out, cried and hit the steering wheel. Dana had a lot on her shoulders right now and the last thing she needed was a fight with her husband David to top it all off.

First off she was fighting depression, then she was in early menopause because of a hysterectomy. Just those two alone were enough to make her want to scream and cry all the time. Now David had come home and told her the Valentines trip he promised was off due to finances. It had been so long since they had gone anywhere that she was going nuts. They both worked so much they needed a break. More than a break they needed time alone together to keep their marriage going good.

David had been all right with her mood swings but Dana could tell it was getting to him also. The more stress she was under from work and the kids made her mood even worse than normal. Now this, the one chance they had at getting away from the stress was taken away from her.

Dana finally managed to get rid of the anger and tears and drove home like she always did. When she got there David told her if it meant that much to her that they would find a way. Money was always tight but she could finagle bills to afford some time away.Dana put in extra hours at her job and saved everything she could to make this work. She needed this badly and was willing to work hard to get it.

They had reservations for two nights at the casino hotel and enough playing money to have fun on. The moment they pulled out of the driveway Dana’s tension eased and she let her mind relax. She intended to really enjoy their mini vacation. When they got to the casino hotel they checked out their room and went downstairs to play the machines for a while.

It was Valentines Day and the casino was packed. They played a while and David came up missing. When he found her he said he was ready to go upstairs and gave her a nice little kiss as he told her he wanted her to come to the room with him. Dana was winning but cashed out anyway just because of the look in his eyes told her something special.

When he opened the door and they walked in she couldn’t believe her eyes. On the bed was a big white teddy bear holding a box of chocolates. All around the room he had lit candles and a bottle of her favorite wine was chilling in the bathroom sink. He had soft music playing and asked her to dance with him. He had the whole romantic scene set up and showed her how special of a woman she is to him still after all these years.
