Connecting the Stars

I stared heavenward, captured by the unspeakable. Behind it all a black matte. Before it a tapestry of the finest silk. Filtered through the silky haze, I glimpsed the perfect shape of the lunar orb. No longer a ball of rock and lifelessness, it took on a persona of magnificence and wonder. It embodied my desire to reach out, to dream, to hope, to find my happiness.

From that vision stretched an odd tear in the fabric…A new pattern reached through the original. Color tore through the sky, reaching to nothing yet touching everything. Some call it a snapshot of a jumble of stars. I called it a vision. Like any tear, it had no uniformity, yet its shape seemed perfect. Its lines smooth. Its colors mesmerizing. Its reach infinite.

A star darted past the tear in reality. It faded into the matte, leaving its brothers and sisters behind. Beams of light. Dots to be connected. New patterns emerged. Stories told. Life captured. I drew images across the sky, from death to birth. From Sorrow to Love. From Despair to Hope. From Loneliness to Joy. I saw my whole life there. The patterns unmistakable. The curves, the bumps, the pitfalls, the triumphs, the lessons. No dot went untouched. I connected them all.

They led me back to the orb, now higher in the sky. Shining brighter than before. Showing larger than I ever saw. My life intersected and surrounded her. Not every dot could see her but with the right lines, every dot would reach her. And every dot could be reached by her. Not only the centerpiece, it was the beginning and end. It brought meaning to the rest of my sky. She was my life and my life is hers.
