This poem was inspired by an activity I participated in-in grade school.
My friends and I we practice
jumping almost everyday,
We jump so fast our hands and
feet go every which way.
We work so hard towards the end
we work up quite a thirst,
but if we do not practice we
will not come in first!
The boys are always stopping by
and making smart remarks.
We pretend they are not there;
we won’t listen to their barks.
The kids at school are proud of
us and on occasion come by to sit,
They bring their Mom’s, and cheer
us on hoping we won’t quit.
At times, we get so tired of
jumping but keep on keep’n on,
we shout out rhymes as we go,
so others won’t hear our moans!
